Effective date: 4 June 2026
Hilal (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a daily Hijri-calendar puzzle game. This policy explains what the app does and does not collect. The short version: Hilal has no user accounts, no backend storing your data, and collects no personal information. Your gameplay lives on your device.
Your game progress, streaks, settings, coins, unlocked themes, and journal entries are stored locally on your device using the operating system’s standard storage. This data never leaves your device, is not transmitted to us, and is removed if you delete the app.
If — and only if — you turn on “Sunset Timing” in Settings, Hilal requests your approximate location to calculate your local sunset (maghrib) so the Hijri day rolls over at the correct local time. This calculation happens on your device. Your location is not stored by us and not transmitted to any server. You can deny or revoke this permission at any time in your device settings; the app simply falls back to a midnight rollover.
To understand how the app is used and to improve it, Hilal collects anonymous, aggregated usage analytics through Aptabase, a privacy-first analytics service. This data is processed on servers in the European Union.
These analytics are anonymous and cannot be traced to you: Aptabase does not use device identifiers, cookies, or fingerprinting, and the data is not linked to your identity. What is recorded is limited to:
This information is not used to track you and is not linked to any identity.
Hilal is suitable for all ages. Because we collect no personal information and no data that could identify a person, the app does not knowingly collect personal data from children.
If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above and post the revised policy at the same URL.
